OSCAR WILDE SEASON LIVE

OSCAR WILDE SEASON LIVE

INFORMATION

Scott Cinemas is delighted to screen a season of four Oscar Wilde plays broadcast live from the Vaudeville Theatre in the heart of London’s West End. Staged by the Classic Spring Theatre Company led by Dominic Dromgoole, former Artistic Director of Shakespeare’s Globe, the season will begin with A Woman of No Importance broadcast live on Tuesday 28 November 2017, followed by the celebrated Lady Windermere’s Fan on Tuesday 20 March 2018.

Classic Spring is the new theatre company from Dominic Dromgoole, former Artistic Director of Shakespeare’s Globe. The company’s first season is a year-long celebration of the late genius Wilde, one aiming to provide a much fuller picture of the man and the artist, revealing this much-loved but complex playwright as the brilliant renegade he was in his own time.

Dominic Dromgoole will personally direct the first play A Woman of No Importance, starring Olivier Award-winning actor Eve Best as Mrs Arbuthnot and BAFTA-nominated Anne Reid as Lady Hunstanton, alongside Eleanor Bron and William Gaunt.

Multi-award-winning actor, director, comedian and playwright Kathy Burke will then direct Lady Windermere’s Fan. The Season will continue with the titles An Ideal Husband and The Importance of Being Earnest, with cinema broadcast dates to be announced in due course.

Admission Prices vary by cinema for this season. Please see individual performances.

Free Tickets (such as Guest Passes, Admit One vouchers, and Meerkat Movies) cannot be used on this presentation. Relevant Daily Telegraph and ClassicFM vouchers are accepted, when tickets are bought in person at the box office.

CERTIFICATION

Event Cinema presentations are classed as 12A by default, except where noted otherwise. This reflects the fact that the BBFC has not examined content, and therefore we are advised that it cannot be determined whether the material contained within the presentation is suitable for children. The applied 12A certificate means that persons under the age of 12 can only be admitted when accompanied by a parent or adult guardian.

In some situations, Event Cinema presentations may have a classification pre-determined by either the venue of origination, or the distributor. These certificates reflect the original ratings applied to the content of any show, for example by the exhibiting theatre. These certificates are clearly displayed next to the presentation title.

Encore performances are always rated by the BBFC. Please note that for 15 & 18 certificate presentations, nobody under that age can be admitted,
