More about Events Coming this Christmas:

The Royal Ballet: The Nutcracker! (2023, U) - Showing at all cinemas on Tuesday 17th December, 7.15pm. Encore screenings available at select cinemas.

Join Clara at a delightful Christmas Eve party that becomes a magical adventure once everyone else is tucked up in bed. Marvel at the brilliance of Tchaikovsky’s score, as Clara and her enchanted Nutcracker fight the Mouse King and visit the Sugar Plum Fairy in the glittering Kingdom of Sweets. Peter Wright’s much-loved production for The Royal Ballet, with gorgeous period designs by Julia Trevelyan Oman, keeps true to the spirit of this festive ballet classic, combining the thrill of the fairy tale with spectacular dancing.

A Christmas Carol (2020, PG) - Showing at Barnstaple & Bristol on Sunday 15th December, 5.45pm.

A Victorian family prepares a paper theatre for a performance of A Christmas Carol. The audience enters the imagination of one of the children and quickly, the cardboard stage transforms to reveal a magical world containing real dancers and stylised sets. The classic tale unfolds in a rich tapestry of highly absorbing, theatrical drama featuring sumptuous visual effects inspired by the techniques of early cinema. In a daring twist of format, characters are portrayed by dancers and voiced by an eclectic cast of the world’s most recognisable actors. The mix of danced action and spoken narration brings fresh dimension to Dickens characters and poetic language, whilst remaining true to the beauty of the authentic original narrative.
